So, how do YOU cleanse your face?
I would like to share with you my face cleansing routine. There is a lot of confusion on how to do it properly. I am not going to give you rules you should follow. I would rather tell you what to avoid and let you experiment, and find out what is the best for you.
Working previously in Avon and Forever Living Products I have been trained by beauticians, make-up artists and doctors how to treat our skin and body to keep it in good condition. The information about face cleansers that stuck in my head is that it has to be rinsed with water or wiped with a damp cloth. You should never leave it on your skin and apply moisturiser. All cleansers (soap, cream, milk, lotion, even micellar water) contain substances to dissolve oils (make-up and impurities). Massaging your face with a lotion and removing it with a dry cotton pad is not enough. There will always be some cleanser left on your skin. Now imagine what would happen if you put soap on your skin without rinsing it and then applied moisturiser. The cleanser would dissolve the moisturiser all day and cause an irritation.
ALWAYS rinse your face with water or use a damp cloth
Very sporadically I use make-up wipes. (shhhh don’t tell Niamh) The same rule applies for me. I will still rinse my skin off with water, but if you are travelling it is better to use wipes than not clean your make-up off at all.
Something I do not understand are 3 in 1 products: cleanser, toner and moisturiser in one. I would not waste my money on them. How do they work? I really cannot tell you!
I would not be able to fall asleep without cleansing my make-up off. Love Your Skin Cleansing Cream was the first Holos product I tried. After I used it I felt like a million dollars. That must be the smell of movie stars. The LYS Cleansing Cream is a combination of hazel and coconut oil blended with essential oils of Rose, Palmerosa, Benzoin and Frankincense. Essential oils can penetrate the blood stream bringing all the goodness to your skin and overall well-being. The shapely bottle with a pump looks more like a perfume phial. And it lasts forever.
I have oily skin therefore I feel like using a cleanser is not enough. I always use a soapy, foamy face wash after. Especially after wearing a heavy make-up. I love the Good Morning Face Wash. Mornings in particular. Geranium, grapefruit and lemon contained in the wash wake me up better than coffee and put me in a good mood. It is like having a SPA treatment in the morning.
After I clean my face I use toner (more about toner in our next blog) and a moisturiser after.
We would like to offer you 20% discount (don’t tell Niamh 😉 to encourage you to try any of our facial cleansers including all of our Body Oils as they are also brilliant in cleansing make-up off. Especially the Saturday make-up 😉
